We are delighted to be back! The 2021 Writers Fête presents remarkable and diverse Canadian authors and artists who share their compelling stories through books, music, theatre, and of course, conversation. All voice some hard truths about vital contemporary issues, and invite us to learn, reflect and reassess our personal worldviews.
With colossal social and environmental upheaval we are given new opportunities to create meaningful change. We hope to build on the Festival’s reputation for frank talk to push the dialogue to an even more thoughtful level and to act as a springboard for action—to show how the arts can contribute to wider social and environmental movements that are critical to our global future. And maybe to answer the question, “What can I do?”
We are grateful to our entire community for your support and generosity, to our inspiring artists for their passion and engagement, and to our volunteers for making it happen.
Enjoy the Festival! Hèléne Giroux, director

Land Acknowledgement We welcome guests on the ancient territory of the Algonquin people, who for over 200 years have received all of us as their guests. Together, we recognize that we gather on land that is unceded Algonquin territory. We acknowledge this with respectful thanks, advocacy and action towards reparation and reconciliation.
