Morning session (10:00-12:30)
This introductory session will aim to stimulate anyone interested in verbatim theatre—be they writer, actor, activist, journalist or art critic. Joel will lead a discussion on the practice of verbatim theatre, and facilitate exercises to create a short verbatim play.
Break (lunch provided)
Afternoon session (1:30-5:00)
The afternoon session will be a continuation of the morning session. Participants will share their short plays and reflect on their experience creating verbatim theatre. Joel will facilitate a discussion about selecting a topic, with a focus on writing a piece for the May 25th Writers Fete event In Their Own Words: An Evening of Verbatim Theatre.
